Knowing I would want some for the blog, Rick took a few photos of Riley's cake making skills!
After I came back from my afternoon of homework session at Cafe' Delirium (my typical Sunday afternoon routine), we went to Red Robin for a birthday dinner- a free birthday cheeseburger!
The kids get a little excited about the balloons... this is Tyson saying a very enthusiastic, "BALLOOOON!!!"
Riley looking cute and me smiling too big, making my eyes squinty! :)
Then it was back home to enjoy the cake that Riley made for me... with a little help with the frosting from daddy!
The kids were pretty silent once they had their pieces of cake in front of them... and of course, leftover milk from Red Robin!
Cooper couldn't enjoy the cake, but he still enjoyed the evening!

Rick and I... okay, mainly Rick, spent the rest of the evening, after putting the kids to bed, setting up the Wii and Wii Fit. I can't wait to get a chance to use it, the last couple of days have been a little too busy (new air conditioning quotes, homework, class, finishing Breaking Dawn, etc.). Today, while the kids nap, I will be exploring all things Wii!!
The morning of my birthday just happened to be Day 1 of my 16 week training countdown to the Portland Marathon. So, alarm at 5:15am and I was out the door by 5:30am for a 3 mile run- a great way to start any day, but especially my birthday! Rick went and got me a Starbucks Iced Tea before heading to school, so the morning started out really well! After school, Rick and went to dinner at the Ram and had every intention of seeing the 7:15pm showing of Star Trek... but, we both decided we probably wouldn't have been able to stay awake for the movie- we're getting old! :) Instead, we ran a couple of errands and stopped at Cold Stone on our way home for some ice cream. All in all, a very special two days of birthday celebration! Cooper even crawled a couple of steps forward the morning of my birthday, which was fun- but we're not declaring him "crawling" just yet. Super-close, though!

That's one of my favorite cakes. I get weird cravings for it every now and then. :)
I'm glad you had a great birthday.
First of all, what a great husband to think of your blog and photograph the cake making :)!
Second...i LOVE the Wii. I play it EVERY DAY!
Third...what running program are you doing? I need to get going again....seriously. And maybe if I get moving I'll see you in Portland. Is it in October?
What a great birthday! I just got to go on a date with my hubby last night, so I know what a rare treat that is!!
I'd been wondering HOW IN THE WORLD you were going to fit marathon training into your crazy life...I figured you'd have to be up at like 3am! You have WAY more dedication than me!! :-)
