I love the rocks to the left modeled after the twin towers.

9/11 WTC Memorial
As a nation, we will (hopefully) never forget that fateful morning of September 11, 2001 when our lives as Americans changed forever. Pieces of the World Trade Center were sent around the country to be used as memorials, and my hometown, Kennewick, WA, was chosen as one of the locations. Since the memorial's erection last year I have taken the kids twice, and we plan to continue taking them in the years to come as a way to expose them to such a turning point in our nation's history- a day burned in our memories, but they will only read about in books or watch in replays on television. We on the west coast were physically so far away from the events of 9/11, but our hearts ached along with the rest of the country as we watched. I am thankful for the chance to honor those who lost their lives by visiting the 9/11 WTC Memorial in Kennewick- so close to home. For those of you who live in the Tri-Cities or pass through, have you visited? If not, I recommend it. And take your kids.

Very nice Brooke. I think it is so important to keep children aware of key events in our history, not to scare them, but to give them an idea as to what our nation has endured to maintain its freedom.
