After giving so much attention to Tyson in posts, I thought it would be nice to post some cute recent pictures of Riley. She is growing up so quickly! Like I said in the previous post, she loves to use my chapstick and still loves to do *everything* by herself. She is constantly looking out for her little brother- for everything Riley gets or gets to do, she makes sure Tyson is going to get it or get to do it too. And her new favorite thing to do is wash her hands in the sink with her purple foam soap- not a bad thing at all!
Last week, she was kicking her legs while I was trying to change her diaper (no potty training yet!)... not a good thing for my growing baby bump. So, I explained to her about the baby growing in mommy's belly and she had to be gentle. Now, she'll walk up to me and rub my belly and say "hi" to the baby and then go and get her Cabbage Patch baby to hold. I hope she does this well when the baby actually arrives!
The hardest thing lately is the "mommy phase" Riley seems to be going through. A big fear of Rick's when I was going to be home full-time was the constant mommy time and limited daddy time, especially now that he's coaching track and home later in the evenings. When I go in and get her in the mornings, the first thing out of her mouth is, "daddy at work". When Rick goes in on the weekends to get her, the broken record line out of her mouth is, "I want mommy, I want mommy". Pretty harsh! I'm looking forward to summer break and Rick being home for quality family time and a lot more daddy time. Here are some pictures of our girl...
Lounging on the couch, sharing the "blankie" with mommy. Rick thinks this blanket is ugly, so it's OK if you do too!
And playing "peek-a-boo" just a few minutes later.
Saying "cheese"!! I love that face...

Natalie's learning how to feed, rock, burp, and change a diaper on her Cabbage Patch doll; and "no kicking, kicking is not nice!" I, too, hope it continues this well! Of course, she still carries it around by a leg at times. =) Enjoy the mommy phase and remind Hubby he'll get his turn.
The sand/water table came from Toys R Us. It's the Nemo one and was on sale for $40 and is twice the size of some they had for $30. I'm holding off on the sand because I figure water will get in the sand and sand will get in the water and be a big mess. So, for summer it's a water table and maybe this fall it can be a sand table. =)
I CANNOT believe how big she's gotten! She's a little person now - and an adorable one at that.
Although I don't have kids yet, I wouldn't worry about the mommy thing. All of my friends here have gone through the same phase. She'll be asking again for daddy in no time!
By the way, did you guys move your living/den rooms around? When I look at your pictures it seems like you guys are hanging out in the front room in some of the pictures, or maybe I'm just not remembering things correctly.
You have a great memory Courtney! We moved the kids play area to where the dining room/office was before, so we spend all of our time up there now. It works out really well and we don't spend so much to heat the house- that downstairs room is like a refrigerator!
I'm pretty impressed I remembered that myself:) But then I did love your house, so that makes it easier.
Great idea, although it's a shame the lower room is so cold because that is such a cool space (I'm all about the step-down rooms). But our house is like that too in the winter. When it is cold outside we eat breakfast in bed almost every morning to avoid having to blast the heat downstairs!
