The Birthday Party

We had a small birthday party for the kids on Saturday with most of Rick's family and Grandma Diane and Grandpa Jim from the Tri-Cities. We enjoyed yummy tacos for dinner, a little present opening, and then some cake! Riley had a Princess theme, while Tyson enjoyed a "Cars" birthday- two great birthday parties wrapped into one! It was such fun watching both of them get so excited about pretty much everything that day! Tyson was particularly excited about his cake. It was sitting out on the table when he woke up from his nap and he literally cried "I want cake!" for over an hour. The boy was on a cake mission... but he had to wait until after dinner like the rest of us!

The decorations were very simple and I made both of the cakes (although I must give the frosting credit to my mom!)

Tyson's Cars cake
Reading the first present they opened... they are both VERY into books right now, and especially books about animals- which this book was!
This slide was the "big" gift for both kids from Rick and I. It seems to work really well inside for the time being, until the weather warms up and we can move it to the backyard. The kids LOVE it!

We even sang "Happy Birthday!" twice, so here is Tyson getting his turn to blow out the candles on his cake.

Wow Brooke! I wouldn't describe anything you pulled off that day as "simple"...Out of town guests, 2 parties, 2 birthday babies, 2 genders, 2 cakes...1 year apart! Way to go mom! Miss you.

Brooke, I LOVE it. You did a great job of celebrating each of the kids' big days. I love that each had their own banner and their own plates and napkins and their own song. Way to go! Happy Birthday Riley and Happy Birthday Tyson!
